FOIA Procedure

DORCHESTER COUNTY WATER AUTHORITY’S FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA) PROCEDURE

Dorchester County complies with the State’s Freedom of Information Act.  Copies of any and all public documents we maintain in our office may be obtained for 10 cents per page. (There is no charge for electronic documents unless the documents need to be converted to electronic format and there may be some documents that we cannot convert to electronic format.)  After you have made a FOIA request in writing, we will determine if the documents are available, the price for retrieving and copying them, and we will notify you. If we need to assign an employee to search, redact, or retrieve the document(s), we will charge you the prorated hourly salary rate of the employee who performs the search.  We require that you pay 25% of the costs in advance and 100% at the time we produce the documents.
