Dear Dorchester County Water Authority Customer,
This letter is to inform you of new rates for water that will go into effect on September 1, 2018. The base rate for residential customers will be $22.00 per month. The commercial customers will see an increase in monthly base rates that will start at $59 for a ¾” meter up to $600 for a 12” meter. Usage rates will remain the same for both residential and commercial customers at $0.30 per 1000 gallons over your base usage.
Many factors have initiated this increase:
- Relocation of existing lines during road projects
- Infrastructure requirements that come with increased population demands
- Stricter DHEC regulations and EPA requirements which increase the frequency of testing and fees
- Technological advances and implementation
Dorchester County Water Authority relies on revenue from our customers. We do not receive any tax money from the state or federal government. Our last rate increase was in 2009. Until now DCWA has absorbed higher costs without a rate increase. To have the resources to adequately support infrastructure needs, maintain the water system, and supply water, an increase is necessary.
Thank you for your continued understanding and support,
The Board of Directors of Dorchester County Water Authority
